I read this article at the end of last year and thought that it would be an interesting addition for this blog. I pass this site nearly every weekend in the car on the way to work, although i have never been able to take photos of the site. However this site will change Melbourne's capacity for convention and also with the expansion of the Melbourne Convention Centre, big things are happening with Melbourne.

Crown Casino has asked planning minister Justin Madden to fast-track its application to build a $300 million hotel behind the Melbourne Convention Centre as part of a $505 million redevelopment.
Crown today announced to the stockmarket it would spend more than $300 million on the new 27-level hotel, confirming details of the project leaked to The Age in February this year.
With 658 rooms, the hotel will be Australia's biggest.
Crown also announced $185 million in upgrades to its existing Crown Towers hotel and to its gaming room floor.
The gaming giant has argued that Mr Madden must pass the hotel plan immediately as a matter of "state significance".
"We don't expect any issues around the hotel," Crown chief executive David Courtney said at a briefing this afternoon.
Mr Madden this afternoon did not responded to requests to be interviewed on the hotel project, but tourism minister Tim Holding was helping to launch the new hotel with Mr Courtney.
Developers Grocon have made the same argument to Mr Madden over their project at the CUB site at the northern end of the city.
Mr Courtney said it was imperative the planning minister approve the new hotel this month so that work could begin immediately and be finished in May 2010.
Melbourne's new 5000-seat Convention Centre is due to open in 2009, and would demand that thousands of new hotel rooms become available in Melbourne, Mr Courtney said.
The new hotel, designed by architectural firm Bates Smart's Roger Poole, will front onto Clarendon Street and be joined to Crown's other facilities via a series of enclosed walkways."
